Jon Doe

Jacques was the chief investment officer of AlphaWealth since 2010 before leaving in 2019 to establish Graphite Asset Advisory as one of the founders and has 20 years of investment experience. He started as a stock market analyst, and then was an international market analyst. He was a founding partner of Orange Capital, one of the first South African hedge fund of fund business where he developed an in depth understanding of the hedge fund industry as CIO. Jacques overseas the investment management team at Graphite who are responsible for managing both South African and International, traditional and hedge multi-manager funds. Graphite has considerable expertise in alternative investments and has established multiple fund of funds hedge offerings both on and offshore.

James Doe

Hazel is a portfolio manager at Graphite Asset Advisory. She began her career in 2009, as a Junior Analyst at Orange Capital, a boutique asset management business in Durban. In 2012, she was appointed as Research Analyst at Alpha Wealth, carrying out both qualitative and quantitative research on a suite of products including but not limited to South African Hedge funds, Long Only unit trusts and Multi-manager funds. A member of the Graphite investment committee, Hazel has 10 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry, managing over a billion in assets.

Nick is a Portfolio Manager at Graphite Asset Advisory and holds the CFA designation. He started his career at Alpha Asset Management in 2011 after graduating from Wits University with an Honours in BCom Finance. There he honed in on his research skills, gaining invaluable experience in asset allocation and manager research. In 2019 he joined Graphite Asset Advisory, along with the rest of the Alpha Asset Management team in their new venture. Nick is primarily responsible for long-only mandates, but enjoys being involved in the alternatives aspect of the business. He enjoys spending his spare time with family and is an avid runner, having completed multiple ultra-marathons in recent years.

Kerusha joined the team in 2013 with a BCom (Finance) degree under her belt, and has over the years, gained a wealth of industry experience and knowledge working closely with the investment team. She is responsible predominantly for the administrative aspects within the Asset Management side of the business and is also actively involved in the pricing of several of the products managed by the team. She also oversees the compliance within the business, ensuring that each team member and the business itself meets and maintains its compliance requirements and regulations with the FSCA.

John is the Chief Operations Officer and co founder of Graphite Asset Advisory. He began his career at KPMG in 2005 where he obtained his CA(SA) designation. Subsequent to this he expanded his skill set in financial services by moving overseas to work in the Structured Finance department for KPMG Cayman Islands. After 3 years overseas he returned to South Africa where he worked as a research analyst with Alpha Asset Management for 3 years before being promoted to Portfolio Manager. During this time, he completed the international designation for Financial Risk Management (“FRM”) and has been responsible for managing both local and offshore investment portfolios for the last 8 years.
